Dr Dan Cocker is a fully qualified and certified oncoplastic surgeon working in Wellington, New Zealand. 

A strong sense of compassion and attention to patients’ wishes drive his focus on cancer outcomes and cosmetic detail.

He works within a team treating breast cancer in Wellington and the Hutt Valley.

He has full accreditation with the Medical Council of New Zealand, is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, is a full member of BreastSurgANZ, and has appointments at Capital & Coast and Hutt Valley Te Whare Ora, and Bowen Private Hospital, and is a affiliated provider with Southern Cross and NIB.

Dan completed his surgical training in the United Kingdom before returning to New Zealand many years after leaving in 2018. Whilst in the UK and Europe, he worked at some of the biggest hospitals in cancer care in the world, such as The Royal Marsden Hospital Chelsea, Imperial College London, St Mary’s Hospital Paddington and the Centre Leon Bernard in Lyon, France. He is widely published and has presented at some of the biggest conferences discussing breast cancer and surgical care in the world.

He brings these experiences to his practice in New Zealand, and has settled in Wellington with his young family after three years working in Waikato Hospital Hamilton. He is a dedicated family man, helping guide his children through the soccer fields of the lower North Island, around the swimming pools of Wellington, and to learn musical instruments on to performances in venues near you!
