Male breast surgery
Men can develop breast tissue and even breast cancer. It can be difficult for men to be open about these problems in an environment which is often focused on women. We will listen to your concerns and advise on all your treatment options.
Gynaecomastia
This is the development of breast tissue in men. There are various possible causes, although it often no specific cause is found. Occasionally gynaecomastia can develop because of a more serious hormonal or testicular problem, so it is important to get checked out. Treatment may not be required and there are medications and surgery available for those that need it.
Breast cancer in men
Breast cancer is relatively rare in men, but common enough to make sure you get checked if you find anything unusual. Often a firm swelling behind the nipple or changes to the nipple are the first sign. You will need to have a small sample taken with a needle (biopsy) to confirm the diagnosis and treatment will likely involve surgery and radiotherapy. Dr Brown can advise you on all your treatment options.
